Aqua Vista Swim School's Summer 2008 Program Policies & Procedures

We have some instructions related to arrival, departure and procedures for summer lesson locations.

AT THE BOB BURGER RECREATION CENTER IN LAFAYETTE

1. Please sign in upon arrival. Your child may not get into the water until sign in procedures have been completed. And a registration card is on file.

2. If your students plan to take advantage of open swim times before or after lessons please pay the admission fee at the front desk. This is part of what allows Aqua Vista Swim School to remain at this beautiful recreation center, and makes our relationship a "win:win" situation. You may call Bob Burger Recreation Center at the number above for information regarding open swim times for the public.

3. Students that are less than 6 years old must have an adult swimming within 6 feet of them during open swim times unless they are in their swimming lesson. This is for your child's safety and is a city policy.

4. During open swim times students may enter the water for up to 5 minutes prior to, or following lessons only if they are 6 years old or older. Students younger than 6 must wait for their lesson to begin before entering the water and must exit immediately following lessons unless an adult is swimming with them.

5. If there is no open swim only students may be in the water.

6. Following these procedures could make the difference between having these pools available and not having pools available in the future.

AT RESIDENTIAL AND HOTEL LOCATIONS

1. Drive carefully. Please park only in designated locations

2. Prompt arrival and departure will be greatly appreciated.

3. There is limited changing space available. So plan for students to come wearing bathing suits if possible.

4. We do not wish to disturb occupants, other guests, neighbors, plants, flowers or shrubbery on the premises.

5. Residents are to be treated respectfully by all. Please do not pet the horses, chase bunnies, or prairie dogs.

7. Consistent failure with any of these guidelines will unfortunately result in the loss of lesson privileges.

8. Please do not use hotel towels. Those are for guests staying at the hotel.

ABSENCES & CANCELLATIONS

1. Our policy is that lessons will be made up for illness we know about in advance. If you don't show up or call with advanced notice, there is not a make-up lesson.

2. There will be a fee of one-half the cost of a single lesson for cancellations less than 24 hours in advance of a scheduled class not due to illness.

3. No make-up lesson will be offered if the office is not called in advance.

4. Of course we have hearts, so there may be exceptions.

MAKE-UP POLICY

Group lessons: Make-ups will be scheduled into available openings. If you prefer, credit may be given for a future lesson in the next session of lessons, instead of scheduling a make-up.

Semi-Privates: When one student misses a semi-private and there is advanced notice of the absence then there are 3 options.

1. The first is that this lesson can be upgraded to the to a 30 minute private lesson for the remaining student at a cost of the dollar difference between that of the current lesson and that of a 30 minute private lesson.

2. The lesson may be shortened to 20 minutes.

3. Aqua Vista Swim School can seek another appropriate student to replace the original student for the lesson or lessons in question. The option belongs to the parent, if a student cannot be found who is considered to be a ?good fit? for the lesson, or if the parent is not available to make a choice, then the instructor will use their own judgment about the appropriate length of time for the student.

Private Lessons: Receive make-ups due to illness. All cancellations must be called in as soon as possible before your lesson time if an appointment can?t be kept. Cancellations not due to illness require at least 24 hours notice.

WEATHER ?RELATED CANCELLATIONS:

The AVSS number is 303-499-3188 or you may reach Chris at Jasper Road Pool at 720-319-0985. There may be temporary evacuation of outdoor pools due to electrical storms at the pool. There will not be cancellation for rain. Neither will be cancelled at indoor locations. Make-up classes will be done as timely as possible. If you are questioning whether or not to attend a class due to weather PLEASE CALL THE AQUA VISTA OFFICE OR THE CELL PHONE OF YOUR INSTRUCTOR. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE OFFICE OF THE FACILITY IN WHICH THE LESSONS ARE HELD.

HOLIDAYS AND SCHOOL "HOLIDAYS"

Check with your instructor , and holiday breaks. Lessons are most often cancelled on these days. Please check with your instructor or the Aqua Vista Swim School office for additional information about lessons falling on major holidays, or about the additional "no school" student holidays of BVSD or your students school district. As most of you know, we could not remain in business or conduct consistent swimming lesson sessions if we took all the "holidays" off that our children receive from their schools.
